NLP and Mind Control
Posted by andj on July 19, 2006
Hi All, Well I have benn having a pretty cracking week this week. Had great workouts on Monday and Tuesday. With Back and 20mins intervals on Monday and shoulders and 45 mins interval on Tuesday. Only problem is that by Wednesday I was completely exhausted. Completely drained of energy. I actually ended up having the day off work and I slept for three hours in the afternoon. So I started to think about the whole concept of rest and realised how important it is. When you are that tired – your body has to be telling you something! I know that I have problems with this kind of exhaustion if I get up at 5 and go to the gym every morning. Therefore I know that I have to mix up mornings and afternoons a bit. But the bottom line is I just have to get to bed earlier. But it seems as though by the time I get home and do all the organising that I have to do it is creeping up to 9pm and I don’t end up getting to sleep until 9:45 or 10:00pm. I need 8 hours sleep at the best of times and even more so when I am training at the gym.
The reason for my title today is becasue last night I started a Neuro -Linguistic programming course. Now I still don’t quite understand the concept entirely. But it seems to be a little along the lines of self-hypnosis, mind control etc. You can tell yourself triggers and teach your mind tricks that make you think and believe amazing things. The teacher did an example of a visualisation of a strawberry and by the end he had us all wanting strawberries. Then he showed us how we could use this same technique to not want the strawberry anymore – and OMG it worked! I certainly didn’t want the strawberry anymore. I think I have found an amazing new way to combat food cravings! Another thing that I notice with the tiredness is that my resolve with food becomes alot more strained when I am tired. I ended up having a free meal last night of 3 slices of pizza for two reasons – my resolve had gone completely out the window and I needed the energy.
I will pop around to everyone’s blogs and leave some comments. I feel like I have been neglecting everyone this past few weeks.
I was thinking that it would be great to orgainise a Brisbane/Gold Coast “meet” I know people are dieting etc. So perhaps a BBQ at a park somewhere where we could bring our own food; or even just to go for coffee. If anyone has any ideas or suggestions just leave a comment for me. have a great day all!

Hey Andj thats a great idea to organise some sort of ‘meet’ for us SE Qld girls. A weekend would probably suit me best. I’ll have a think and let you know.
I can relate about the sleep thing – why oh why is it that we are soooo tired at 5am, but just cannot get to sleep before 10pm??!!!!!!

Hi there, I know the sleep deprivation thing well (having a 10 month old). Sometimes you just need a day to sleep and get your energy back.
Good luck with that course, it sounds awesome. Must not eat chocolate….. Lol.
A meeting would be cool. It would be great to meet all the Qld people.
Enjoy your weekend
Rebecca
