Sunday Long Run

Posted by andj on April 6, 2008

Buzz BUZZ SAYS: 14 days to go until my first half marathon!!!!!

Well………some advice for new players at this game – Don’t take two weeks off running and then expect to be at the same level you were at before. I just did a 16ish km run in about 1 hour 50mins and my legs were heavy heavy heavy!

BUT I have a big week planned this week and a taper week next week and I will be OK!

Today I had the best breakfast ever:

Oats with half a banana chopped up, a teaspoon of golden syrup and 2 dates chopped up. If you are planning a BIG run or long session – it is awesome fuel food.

My lunch today was also good:

Half a cup of rice, 50g of chopped up chicken, frozen peas and corn, half a packet of steam fresh veggies and an egg (in the form of an omlette) with a teaspoon of soy sauce. An excellent weekend lunch!

After my run today I felt quite ill – I used to get like this in the past and I think it is associated with a lack of fuel – although I did eat a good amount of carbohydrates today – there was too much time between my last meal and my run. At the 11km point I was starting to feel hungry – that can’t really be a good sign.

Anyway – I have eaten now and I will concentrate on rehydrating into the night. I have my skins on and I’m settling in for SYTYCD.

    Hi Andj again ;)

Yes I had the best results with Liz. That was when I got my smallest and best results (if only I realised then how great I looked). Yeah that would be great if you wanted to check my results online. I will start recording again tomorrow then. If I know someone is looking at it I know I need to keep it up to date.

btw I know what you mean about missing two weeks. I did the same thing when we had our heatwave and found it really hard to run again.

I wanted to ask you what type of prep you have been doing for your half marathon. I am trying to work out whether I can attempt in a half in a months time or not. I know I can walk 21 km’s and it is an easy run as it is one way all downhill… I just don’t want to injure myself

Sorry for the really long comment :)

Its really good to chat to someone who is going through the same things

    Kristy
