BUZZ SAYS 10 DAYS UNTIL MY FIRST HALF MARATHON!!
Holey Moley – only ten days to go until I do something that I have been saying I am going to do for about 2 years.!!
Training today was just a 10km run at around 6:00min per km done in Just over 1 hour (Like and hour and 2 mins or something like that – I wasn’t really timing). Felt very comfortable once I got into a good rhythm. Foot was still hurting a little but I am riding for the next two days and having an easy week next week so I’m sure it will be fine. I still had slight DOMS in my legs from Sundays run. I find it hard to believe that I think 10km is relatively easy now.
- I don’t want to push too hard now. No more running now until Sunday – I have cycling for the next couple of days. I like the cycling part of my training because it isn’t anywhere near as hard on my legs but it is still a hard work out in a completely different way.
Cal king stats for today are as follows:
You have used 1357 out of your net daily budget of 1500 calories and have 143 calories remaining. 13% of the calories are from fat, 38% from protein, 48% from carbs and 0% from alcohol.
A much better day than yesterday because I managed to actually eat all of my planned food. It makes a big difference.
I have been really trying to focus on hydration this week but it doesn’t seem to have been working for me up until this point. I have only just been managing two 750ml containers of water. My goal for was to get at least three in. – and I managed it.
I haven’t really been able to find ANY onfo about the Brisbane marathon event online as yet but I had a look at the intraining website tonight and it looks as though there is a map there now at least!

BUZZ SAYS 11 DAYS UNTIL MY FIRST HALF MARATHON!!
The answer: Don’t set your alarm on the day that you have to put petrol in your car AND be at work by 7am.
I think I only dreamt setting my alarm last night because it didn’t go off this morning and I woke up to markus saying get up – you’re going to be late. Instant bad mood. Luckily I had organised my food and clothes last night. Still, there was no time for breakfast and no time to freshen up and make myself feel semi decent. So I went through today with no make up at all and have felt really tired all day. When I went to put petrol in the car on the way to work – there was a tanker in the driveway and it was blocked – no petrol at that servo! Only problem is that I have a fuel card and that was the last Caltex on my way to work – and the Fuel light in the car was on. Any chance I had of squeezing in breakfast was now gone.
I was so tired and not fully awake yet that I got myself upset – how silly – anyway – I got over that and started think what I was going to do about this awful food situation. I also decided that I needed a sugarfree “V” drink at the servo. I think that helped a little bit. I remembered that I had a Slim Secrets bar in my locker at work – and that that is something I can eat while I am working with out drawing too much attention to myself. SO that got me through until morning tea and it was all good from there on in.
So I guess today I was feeling flat and I was also feeling extremely fluidy – not really sure why – could be DOMS – but still resourceful enough to manage to eat quite well – despite missing a meal. After being completely OFF salads for weeks, I have rediscovered a love for them and I had the hugest salad with chicken for lunch. The hospital cafeteria sells the most pathetically small tubs of what the call salads for $5 – I’m talking like the size of a small tub of coleslaw from coles. Today they had a nice looking sweet potato and eggplant that wasn’t very greasy or oily and I added that into the mix. It was very nice.
Training today is Speed work and I am going down to the local park to do 6 x 500mts repeats with a jog recover. I’ll jog down there and back for a warm up and cool down.
UPDATE: I actually did 5 X 400mt repeats at a time interval of 1:45 per interval with a 1 min standing recovery. 2km jog warm up and 2 x 50mt hill sprints on the way home.
After the way I felt this morning I really feel like having a good solid run. (and I did – there is just something satisfying about not being able to breathe……)
I’m still thinking about the full marathon – I can’t decide – sometimes I think yes I want the challenge and the next day I think why would I want to do that. Hmmn!
