Here I am before the race – waiting in the dark at 5:30am.

As I crossed the finish line – Mark managed to get a pic. I was actually running – even though it doesn’t look like it.

Afterwards with my frind’s mum – not the most glamourous picture but oh well.
Here is my play list for Selina:

Broken hearts Parade – Good Charlotte
Going Insane – warp brothers
u and ur hand – Pink

That got me through until the 11 – 12km point, then I switched to the hard core pump up tracks from RPM:

I have been doing a bit of thinking about the what next question this morning. After a fairly relaxed day of food yesterday and I back to the normal eating plan today. Stress levels are relatively low – even though I still have one assignment to get done this week.
I am having another ‘easy’ week this week – am planning on rehashing the first week of training I did with Liz and sticking to that plan for a few weeks at least – until I get settled in Canberra and have started with my new training group (which I will reveal at a later stage).
I won’t have my bike (either of them) down in Canberra and I won’t have a gym membership so the majority of my training will be running. But I may try and find a pool and do some cross training that way (note to self – take swimmers etc).
The next six weeks for me is going to be about developing my aerobic base a little futher in preparation for the longer distances that I will be doing in August and September. I have the outlines of a training program worked out – but I am thinking that will change a bit when I get to Canberra and start training with the new group/coach (running specific coach). I would like to improve my speeds over the shorter distances. I know I am comfortable running a 5:30/km half marathon – I would like to be able to run a 5:00/km 10km and possibly an even faster 3km. So the next six weeks is going to be about me running faster and pushing myself in my shorter training runs. I’ll stick with the long slow run on a Sunday though. At the end of the month/six weeks I will look towards doing a 10km race/event if I can find one. Just to keep the taste of running in an event in my mind.
I may still do the gold coast half marathon – simply because it will fit in well with my training schedule at the time – but it will depend where I am at and if i can make it to Brisbane that weekend (and if mark will let me skyve off to the Coast for the morning for a run). The gold Coast marathon is considered by many to have the best atmosphere of any event in Australia – it makes sense to make the most of that. I will decide closer to the time though – late entry fees start after June 4th and I won’t really feel like paying $90 to enter.
I would like to drop a couple of kilos as well – to get down into the 62’s – so that will probably be my focus for May – I feel like I can focus more on the weight side of it all now – with my event still 6 months away. when I start doing the longer km’s I am going to need to really learn to balance my nutritional intake so that I have enough fuel to keep me going. I learnt just how important that is this past Sunday!
