Went out for a 10 – 11km run this morning on the planned route around Lake Gininderra. I wasn’t feeling particularly flash – in fact I just felt plain weird – almost like my legs felt a little bit numb. They felt really heavy. It honestly felt like the longest 10km that I have ever done. I though to myself ‘yeah – it is probably going to take me a little while to get used to these different running conditions. I don’t often have to deal with wind at home and there is probably some altitude difference – oh and it feels a little bit cold’ – But hey – I felt OK so I just kept going.
At about the 9km point my knee (which has been hurting a bit all week) started to really hurt so I stopped and walked the rest of the way home.
Now all I was wearing was my long skins and the shirt I got from the Brisbane half last weekend (short sleeves) and while I was running I was feeling quite comfortable.
Once I stipped to walk I thought to myself – yeah – it’s a little bit nippy.
When I got home I looked up the Bureau of Meterology and it turns out that the highest wind gusts this morning were about 50km/hour and it was probably around 12 – 13 degrees celcius. Is it anywonder I was feeling how I was feeling. I will definitely have to get used to these different conditions. I DEFINITELY need some winter running gear (i.e. a nike long sleeve dri fit shirt) and Iuntil I get used to the different conditions I can see a challenging month or so ahead of me.
I do wonder it it will make it easier or harder to run in Queensland though.
On another note it is absolutely stunning here in Canberra at the moment. The trees are all the most beautiful colours. This afternoon I will go down to the lake again and take some photos because I really want to capture it just how it is now.
As an aside – tomorrow the predicted maximum is 10 degrees oh my goodness!!!!!
AFTERNOON UPDATE
I’m feeling quite headachy this afternoon – not 100% at all and I hope that I’m not coming down with something.
I really really want to eat well but I am struggling with all the family visiting etc There is so many cups of tea! My weight is up still and I really want it to be back down in the vicinity of 65kg but it feels as thought there are many things that appear to be against me achieving that at the moment.
I guess too that I need to consider the fact that I’m not weighing myself on the scales that I normally would be weighing myself on.
I think I really want some digital scales of my own – that way I know that they will always be set right for me and reflect the truth!
