Well today was ccc..cold – although I did spend the majority of the day at the hospital.
I put a winter coat on Layby today – it is from Portmans and it is a lovely grey tweed.Quite dressy. I like it – I hope it will be warm enough. I still want another one – a bit less dressy – but this one will do for now.
After spending 3 hours at pre admission clinic and eatin a lot of rubbish, we went to the runners shop and looked at running jackets. I tried on a couple but wasn’t convinced. I know the one I want – it is from a triathlon brand – Orca. So we went to rebel sport because all I wanted was a long sleeve running shirt from Nike. Mark’s mum bought me that as a present for my birthday.
I bought myself some running gloves from the running shop. The are also Nike and nice and thin but also warming. The have cute little key pockets on the palms.
I am feeling a bit tipsy tonight because I have been a t the cousins house drinking warming red wine and my Aunt – in – law has bestowed me with a 1970’s sheepskin 3/4 length coat. SOOO warm if not a bit hairy – but in the throws of winter I am positive it will keep me warm.
So next on the list to buy is another long sleeve nike shirt but I will get it in Bris at the Nike shop, an Orca running jacket which I will order in, and some asics or 2 xu winter weight longrunning tights – oh and a new pair of shoes!
I spent about 2 hours this afternoon with Mark’s exercise physiologist cousin devising a training plan for me on excel – it’s very good. He is an elite cyclist and is introducing me to dangerously expensive technological devices for logging all sorts of fancy information. I have my eyes on a Polar RS400 with the foot pod – but at $400 I will have to wait a while for that one I think. The road bike is higher on the list of priorities.
Mark’s cousin is in the midst of setting up the new Exercise Physiology clinic at the Canberra University and there is the future promise of full biomechanical testing availability on the northside of Canberra. Pick me as a guniea Pig I say!
WEEKLY GOAL REVIEW
This week I have run 19.3 out of a planned 26 km and i have cycled 21 from a planned 20 km.
I dont feel as though ithas been a particularly productive week of training – I feel like I am MUCH better off when I am working normal hours and set schedules and I can really have a solid plan to work with – especially on the nutrition side of things.
I know I said I wanted to get it back on track this week but if today was anything to go by then it just isn’t hapenning. I think I need to set myself some daily achievement goals. Like setting all my food out for the day – even on the day’s I’m not going anywhere. Training is a given for daily achievement.
The weather conditions in Canberra also make it a little challenging – although this is not an excuse – simply something that I need to adapt to – and I will in time.
Next weeks goals are in the side bar and on the traiing page – a little more focus this week would be something to add to the mix.
I have had a sore knee this week and I hope that i can get it to feeling good again this week- if not – it will be water running for me and off to the physio next week!
